San Marcos took the initiative on Wednesday with a tight first-set victory over Santa Ynez on its way to a 26-24, 25-19, 25-17 non-league win over Santa Ynez.
Kristine Fimlaid drew praise from Royals head coach Erica Downing, collecting eight kills on 13 attempts with no errors. Chloe Allen posted a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs, and Kamille Williams tallied 10 kills.
The Royals host Arroyo Grande on Friday in a non-league match.
