There are no easy matches in the Channel League.
San Marcos found that out Thursday night at Buena, as the Bulldogs won the first set. The Royals regrouped behind the setting and leadership of Gabi Peoples and pulled out a 20-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-18 win.
Peoples had 46 assists “and was a fantastic leader,” said coach Erica Downing. “She has had great games all week.”
Chloe Allen led three players in double-figure kills with 15, Jenna MacFarlane had 12 and Kamille Williams 10.
Freshman middle Kristine Fimlaid made several contributions to the win. She had five kills, hit .440 and had some key blocks, noted Downing.
Taryn Stevens provided good back-row defense and serving. She served eight straight points in the fourth set.
San Marcos is 3-0 in Channel League.
