A second-set speed bump slowed down Santa Barbara High only so much on Tuesday in a 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 25-10 victory over Buena in a Channel League match.
Lourda Weger’s 25 kills powered the Dons’ attack.
“Lourda played her best match of the season so far. She really did a good job of leading the Dons tonight,” said Santa Barbara High head coach John Gannon.
Outside hitter Jessyca Beksa, with 10 kills, and setter Bella Gniadek, with 47 assists, also made a strong impact on the match, according to Gannon. Gniadek was running a 5-1 offense for the first time at the varsity level. Megan Seabury collected 11 digs and passed at a 2.5 average.
Santa Barbara (13-10, 3-2) meets Dos Pueblos next Tuesday.
