Cate girls tennis defeated Santa Ynez, 10-8, on Friday in a non-league.
It’s a great win for the Rams as the Pirates are ranked No. 2 in CIF Division 3. Cate is an unranked Division-2 team.
Julia Gan rallied for a pivotal win after being down 4-1 and 5-2 , coming back to triumph in a tiebreaker, 7-4. She did not lose another game the rest of the match.
In doubles, Summer Christensen and McKenna Madden took their unbeaten record to 12-0. Christensen is now 18-0 in the season.
“We have been building some serious momentum over the course of this season, proving that we can compete with some of the stronger teams out there. I’m so proud of my girls, their play and their character,” reported Rams head coach Trevor Thorpe.
