Bella Vigna dropped her tee shot in the water on the very first hole at the Channel League Individual Golf Championship but held on to win the title for the second straight year at Soule Park in Ojai.

The Dos Pueblos sophomore recovered well on that first hole and went on to win by seven strokes over teammate Gabby Minier. Her two-round score of 147 was four-over par.

Vigna, who took a two-stroke lead on Day 1, putted well both days, completing each round using 29 putts. In Tuesday’s clinching round, Vigna dropped five birdies even though she woke up under the weather and lacking energy.

Monday’s round was more steady with one birdie, three bogeys and 14 pars for Vigna.

Vigna, Minier, Mallory Sestak and Jamie Sharpe qualified for the first round of CIF Individuals as the top-four finishers. The first round is at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard on Monday.

Sestak, a San Marcos sophomore, carded a 162. Sharpe, a Dos Pueblos senior, was fourth at 167. Megan Caird and Julia Forster tied for fifth one stroke behind Sharpe, and Caird was given the alternate spot on a tiebreaker determined by the better back nine on Tuesday.
