Dos Pueblos’ Bella Vigna and Bishop Diego’s Sienna Scibird secured coveted places in the next round of CIF playoffs as the pair were two of 36 golfers to advance on Monday at the CIF Individual Regional played on the par-72 Vineyard Course at River Ridge Golf Club.
Mira Costa’s Andrea Lee bested the entire field of 115 with a 68 to win medalist honors.
Vigna, the Channel League’s individual champ, carded a one-over 73. The sophomore was two under after 12 holes but stumbled slightly down the stretch with bogeys on three of her last six holes.
Scibird, the individual runner-up in the Tri-Valley League, was one stroke behind at 74.
Mallory Sestak (San Marcos), Jamie Sharpe (Dos Pueblos) and Gabby Minier (Dos Pueblos) could not reach the cut of 77 or lower. Minier, a freshman, scored an 84, followed by Sharpe at 86 and Sestak at 87.
Scibird and Vigna will travel to Chino Hills next Thursday for the next round of CIF at Western Hills Country Club.
In the meantime, Vigna and the Chargers compete again on Monday at the CIF Team Regional in Ojai.
