Santa Barbara’s Alan Enriquez recently participated at the U.S. Soccer Under-15 National Team training camp in Carson.
Enriquez, an 8th grader at La Cumbre Junior High, plays for his school team and the La Esperanza SB U14 soccer club. He was one of 48 boys from throughout the country to be invited into the national team camp last week. The U15s will conclude the 2015 programming with a final training camp in December.
“Alan is a pleasure to coach, always listening and never complaining,” said his La Cumbre coach Rick Rodriguez. “He is an inspiration to his team and I hope he is an inspiration to his community. Alan’s story is proof that every kid can accomplish what he sets his mind to.”
Enriquez’s La Esperanza SB team plays in the highly competitive California Regional League. He’s also played in the Olympic Development Program team for his age group. The defender is vying to be one of the final 20 players who will comprise the U15 National Team.
