Cate exploded for four touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 64-0 non-league 8-man football win over Animo Leadership on Saturday in Inglewood.
Isaiah Washington and Dean Smith both scored twice. Washington opened the scoring with a 48-yard run and later caught a 28-yard pass from quarterback Mike Nettesheim. Smith found the end zone on a 2-yard run and then went 60 yards after catching a pass from Nettesheim.
Clinton Hall had TD runs of 9 and 37 yards in the second quarter, and Pierce Lundt scored on a 28-yard run. The Rams also got a safety after a bad snap by Animo.
Patrick Armstrong scored his first varsity touchdown on a 2-yard quarterback keeper in the fourth quarter and Lundt completed the scoring with a 25-yard interception return.
“I’m proud of the way we were able to stay focused in this game,” assistant coach Dave Soto said. “It was fantastic to get everybody in the game and I was excited to see the guys cheering each other on. Hopefully we can take away the good things we did here and carry over into our last two games.”
The third-ranked Rams return to Condor League action on Saturday, hosting Villanova Prep on Family Weekend at Cate.
