The timing was just right for the Carpinteria football team.
After losing its first five football games, the Warriors will take a two-game win streak into next week’s Tri-Valley League opener. They put together their best performance of the season in routing Cantwell-Sacred Heart 53-0 on Friday night at Carpinteria Valley Memorial Stadium.
The Warriors (2-5) had their option running attack operating on all cylinders behind senior quarterback Jimmy Graves, who made his first start of the season. They got rushing touchdowns from Jacob Garside, Oscar Garcia, Aaron Vargas and Rudy Beltran.
Tim Jimenez returned a punt 82 yards for a score and Garcia returned the second half kickoff for a touchdown.
Carpinteria opens TVL play at Nordhoff.
