San Marcos’ girls cross country team swept the first five places at the Lompoc Invitational on Wednesday for a perfect score of 15. The Royals’ boys team won its race as well, scoring 23 points.
Junior Erica Schroeder, the CIF State champion in the 800 meters, claimed first place followed by teammates Lee Al-Atraqchi, Mya Adornetto, Elsa Robertson and Kendra Dayton in that order.
Logan Briner’s second-place result led the boys team to victory. Sophomore Jason Peterson placed third followed by classmate David Dinklage in fifth. Junior Jeremiah Swider (6th) and Philip Nauman (7th) rounded out San Marcos’ scorers.
