Christina Rice won the first race of Dos Pueblos’ cross country season on Saturday at the Morro Bay Invitational. Hunter Clark led the boys team with a fourth-place finish.
Rice’s winning time was 19 minutes and five seconds on the 2.76-mile course that included a mile of distance on sand. Rice opened up a 10-second lead ahead of the second-place finisher.
Kailey Reardon was the Chargers’ second runner across in 21:04 (22nd overall). Natalie Hawkins and Kareena SeSilva added top-30 results.
Clark nearly broke 16 minutes in his first race of the season with a time of 16:04. Sophomore Joshua McGregor came in in 17th place. Nathan Alvarez (36th), Jeremiah McElwee (41st) and Jack Randmaa (50th) gave the Chargers five runners in the top 50.
Dos Pueblos has its Channel League opener next on the schedule. The Chargers host the first league meet on Wednesday.
