Katelynn Womack had 31 kills on Saturday and Shannon Friend added 25 as SBCC knocked off a pair of Orange Empire Conference teams in the SBCC Quad women’s volleyball tournament at the Sports Pavilion.
Friend drilled 14 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Golden West (25-10, 26-24, 25-23) and Womack had 10 kills and 10 digs. Womack delivered a season-high 21 kills and nine digs in the second match, a 3-1 win over Fullerton (25-17, 21-25, 29-27, 25-13).

Hannah Cantrell had nine kills and four aces in the GW match and Tristen Thompson dug 18 balls. Raleigh McKinney added 12 digs while setter Shiloe Parsons had 30 assists.
“Shiloe did a great job of finding her hitters and managed the court well,” said coach Ed Gover. “We got excellent play from our middles, Paige Sabin and Hannah Cantrell. We also got production out of Kaitlyn Clemann on the right side.
“Katelynn Womack stepped it up for us against Fullerton and added an aggressive attack on the outside. We’re seeing players make changes in practice that are now translating into competition and the coaching staff is very proud.”
Friend had 11 kills vs. Fullerton and Womack collected 21 while being set 63 times. Sabin, a 6-1 sophomore, had eight kills, four aces and four blocks. Parsons handed out 45 assists in the second match and Thompson had 16 digs. McKinney added 12 digs while Parsons and Hillary Bean had eight.
