Baylee Vincent scored in the 36th minute and SBCC notched its third straight clean sheet for a 1-0 women’s soccer win on a hot day at Taft College.
Vincent, a freshman defender from El Centro, Calif., jumped on a clearing shot by a defender and blasted a 35-yarder past the goalie.
“It was like a missle,” said coach John Sisterson. “I think that’s the first time I’ve seen her kick it with her right foot.”
Goalie Alex Camarillo and the defense posted the third straight shutout for the Vaqueros (3-0), who haven’t allowed a goal in 270 minutes. It was the sixth consecutive shutout, dating back to last season.
SBCC will make its home debut on Friday against San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m. The Vaqueros were 9-0-1 at home last season.
