Freshman Sydney Magnin scored her second goal in two games to give the Gauchos the 1-0 win over the University of Montana Grizzlies.
UCSB is now on a five match win streak for the first time since 2013. The last time the Guachos went unbeaten for more than five games was in 2006 when they won seven straight.
Magnin’s goal came at the end of a first half in which the Gauchos had full control. Junior McKinsey Martinez sent in a corner kick that reached Magnin right in the middle of the box. Magnin was able to header the ball over the diving goalkeeper Kailey Norman and into the net at the 36:37 mark.
The second half was controlled completely by the Gauchos, as they held the Grizzlies to zero shots for the entire game.
Gaucho goalkeeper Jacq Caginia improved to 4-0-0 on the season.
The Gauchos will face the Dayton Flyers on Sunday. The Flyers are just 1-6-0 on the season and have yet to win a game on the road. The Gauchos will look to extend their win streak to six on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. on Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
