San Marcos had a successful weekend at the La Jolla Coastal Classic in San Diego. The Royals finished in third place out of 36 teams, falling to Canyon Crest 25-17, 25-19 in their final match.
San Marcos defeated Salpointe (AZ) 25-22, 26-24 and Academy of Our Lady of Peace 25-18, 25-18 earlier on Saturday. On Friday, the Royals won two of three matches to make the Gold Division bracket on Saturday.
The 36-team tournament was won by Canyon Crest.
Royals head coach Erica Menzel called it a great tournament for the team and that Gabi Peoples and Chloe Allen were great leaders all weekend.
San Marcos hosts Santa Barbara on Tuesday night in a Channel League game.
