Two players out of the lineup with illness had Cate head coach Greg Novak tinkering with his lineups on Tuesday night. The new mixtures succeeded in a 25-10, 25-18, 25-11 sweep of visiting Malibu in a non-league match.
Novak said the team adapted well to the new roles and hit .281 collectively. Delaney Mayfield helped the average by hitting .429 and finishing with a team-high nine kills, four aces and four blocks. Hannah Bowlin and Morgan Crew had two aces each.
The Rams (12-6, 3-0) play a league match on Thursday at home against Fillmore.
