Harvard-Westlake came to San Marcos’ Thunderhut on Tuesday night and left with a 30-28, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21 non-league victory.
“Great match for us. They are a good team with a lot of ball control,” explained Royals head coach Erica Downing, whose team owns a No. 7 ranking in CIF Division 1A to start the season.
Chloe Allen’s 21 kills led the Royals while Jenna McFarlene added 17. Kamille Williams and Gabi Peoples finished with six kills each.
“We need to work on defense and get some other hitters involved but we were very happy with how we played tonight,” Downing said.
The Royals (0-1) travel to Hart on Thursday for their next match. It will be a clash of CIF Division 1A ranked teams as Hart is No. 8.
