Santa Barbara High won five of seven matches at the Westlake Tournament, culminating with a one-set loss to Newbury Park in the Silver Division championship.
The Dons lost to the Panthers 25-18 after defeating El Camino, Buena and Moorpark earlier in the day. Santa Barbara survived El Camino 30-32, 15-19, 15-10 and Buena 24-26, 25-16, 15-13.
“It was a really good tournament for us, we got a lot of good playing time, played a lot of sets of volleyball,” said Dons head coach John Gannon.
The Dons improve to 10-3 overall and look forward to a big Channel League match against rival San Marcos on Tuesday.
Friday’s action at the tournament included victories over West Ranch and Camarillo before a straight-sets setback to Westlake on Friday night.
