The Dos Pueblos girls volleyball team secured its first win of the season against Rio Mesa on Tuesday, and did so in stellar fashion with a 3-0 sweep. The set scores were 25-16, 25-23, 25-15.
Ali Milam led the way with an impressive 19 kills accompanied by two aces which was facilitated by Catherine Hogan who finished with 17 assists. Autumn Rexford provided 5 aces and 7 digs on the day.
“In the second game we came out flat and found ourselves down 18-11,” said coach Dillan Bennett. “I think we got a little bit too excited and began to play poorly but a combination of Rexford’s serving and Milam’s kills got us back in it and we were able to win that one 25-23.”
The Chargers improve to 1-6 with the victory and are set to play Oxnard on the road next Tuesday.
