Led by a stellar performance from Peyton Shelburne, the Cate girls volleyball team swept Santa Clara in three straight sets on Tuesday on the road. The Rams prevailed 25-16, 25-15, 25-11.
“Santa Clara was playing some good defense but we held steady and played smoothly for the win,” said coach Greg Novak.
Shelburne knocked down 12 kills on the day while Delaney Mayfield was not far behind with 11. Lydia McMahon hit a .667 with 2 kills off 3 swings.
The victory moves Cate to a 7-5 overall, 2-0 league record and will prepare to host Fillmore in a league match later this week.
