Bishop Diego earned its first Tri-Valley League victory of the season on Thursday night and did it in exciting fashion. The Cardinals survived Malibu in five sets 25-23, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25, 15-12.
Evie Coronado was Bishop Diego’s kill leader while Summer Soto’s 44 digs led the defensive effort. Freshman Lauren Holsted provided a spark off the bench in the deciding fifth set according to head coach Jon Sener.
Bishop Diego (2-2, 1-2) plays again on Saturday at the Carpinteria Tournament.
