Santa Barbara High opened its season at Oxnard on Tuesday and rode the hot hands of Jessyca Beksa and Lourda Weger to a 25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20 non-league victory.
Beksa led the Dons with 20 kills while Weger notched 19.
“We had a really strong attack from our senior outside hitters. They did a good job for us swinging and passing on the outside,” said Dons head coach John Gannon.
Lauren Suh’s 18 digs from the libero position were key to the Dons win according to Gannon.
Santa Barbara (1-0) plays its first home match next week on Tuesday against Thousand Oaks. The Dons are home again on Thursday vs. Westlake.
