Carpinteria’s girls tennis team nearly picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday in a 10-8 loss to Pacifica.
Madison Cleek swept her three singles sets to lead the Warriors, who rallied after falling behind 5-1 after the first round. Cleek posted wins of 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
“She played extremely well, came to the net at the appropriate times, finished points at the right times and just had one of the smartest outings I have seen from her,” commended Warriors head coach Charles Bryant.
Alondra Costilla won 2 of 3 in singles as did the doubles team of Maria Zamora and Athena Cuellar.
Carpinteria (0-3) plays again on Thursday at Oaks Christian.
