Carpinteria secured a 10-8 non-league victory over Villanova on Friday. It was the second straight victory for the Warriors after starting the season with five consecutive losses.
The Carpinteria doubles team of Athena Cuellar and Maria Zamora picked up a critical win for the Warriors when they rallied from down 1-5 to win a set. The tandem won all three of their sets on the day.
In singles, Kathryn Blair won two sets and lost her other in a tiebreaker.
“I was happy we were exposed to a wide variety of singles play and it was great to see how we reacted to those styles,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant.
