A third-round singles win by Santa Barbara High freshman Claire Stotts clinched a 10-8 Channel League victory for the Dons over Ventura on Thursday.
“She played with courage and her strong ground strokes overpowered her opponent,” reported Dons head coach Sally Becker.
Stotts’ win combined with two victories by Cade Sorensen were all Santa Barbara could pick up in singles. The doubles lineup came through by capturing seven of nine sets, including a three-point sweep by Eva Kershner and Alexia Berton.
The Dons improve to 2-2 in league play.
