The Cate girls tennis team took down Nordhoff 16-2 in a seemingly effortless Tri-Valley League opener on the road on Tuesday.
Cate was led by Julia Gan, who dropped just a single game in three rounds while Madeleine Nelson also swept. Emma Liberman contributed two sets in the singles department as well.
In doubles, the power duo of Summer Christensen and McKenna Madden went undefeated at the No.1 berth while the pair of Eva Herman and Janice Ng also didn’t falter a single set on the day. Cecelia Sanborn joined Annie Lu at the No.3 spot as they tallied two sets.
“I was really impressed by the way our doubles teams played together. Summer and McKenna played together in the playoffs last season, but otherwise these were entirely new combinations, so it was good to see them executing right away,” said coach Trevor Thorpe.
The Rams will play their second league matchup at home against La Reina on Thursday.
