Defending league champion La Reina downed Carpinteria, 14-4, on Tuesday in a Tri-Valley League match.
Warriors head coach Charles Bryant said he mixed up his doubles lineup and saw positive results.
“I was happy with how they tried adjusting on their own which means they were thinking and strategizing,” Bryant said.
Four doubles teams won one set each for the Warriors. Josie Gordon/Kathryn Blair, Athena Cuellar/Jeanette Fantone, Maria Zamora/Alondra Costilla and subsitute team Daryanna Lancet/Jessica Lord all claimed one point.
“Many of these doubles pairings had not played together before but I was happy to see them compete. They were a little dejected after a few of their losses which is healthy but also quickly shook it off and focused on the next set,” Bryant said.
La Reina’s strong singles lineup dominated the match and won all nine sets.
It was the second TVL match in two days for the Warriors, who lost to Malibu on Monday by the score of 11-6. The match’s final set wasn’t finished because of darkness.
