San Marcos’ girls golf team will take an undefeated record into its Channel League opener after the Royals topped San Luis Obispo, 246-257, at Birnam Wood on Wednesday.
San Marcos, which improved to 4-0 on the season, hosts Ventura on Thursday at Sandpiper Golf Course in the league opener.
Sophomore Mallory Sestak was the medalist in Wednesday’s victory for shooting a 43. Remi Ho, MacKenzie McBride and Lauren Pitchford matched each other with rounds of 50. Amanda Chen’s 53 completed the scoring.
San Luis Obispo was led by Isabel Carpenter and Bee Soll at 47.
“Birnam Wood is a challenging course that really tests a player’s shot selection. We did a good job overall while learning some areas of our game that we can continue to improve upon throughout the season,” reported Royals head coach Sarah Ashton.
