Bishop Diego jumps back into its tough schedule this weekend with a non-league game against a ranked Mission Prep team.
The Cardinals, 4-0 and ranked eighth in the CIF Northern Division, are coming off a bye week. Mission Prep (3-1), ninth in the Northwest Division, was beaten by powerhouse Sierra Canyon last week, 48-10.
Four county teams are ranked in this week’s Northern Division top 10. Besides Bishop, Lompoc is No. 5, St. Joseph No. 6 and Santa Ynez 10th.
Santa Barbara dropped out of the Western Division rankings after its second straight loss last Friday. The Dons (3-2) face a 4-1 Pacifica team, which is listed among others in the division.
In 8-man football, Cate is ranked sixth and Laguna Blanca seventh. The Owls play at No. 10 Villanova Prep in the Condor League opener on Saturday. Cate plays at No. 4 Orcutt Academy on Saturday night at Pioneer Valley High.
