San Marcos let Righetti get away in the second half of Thursday’s non-league contest as the Warriors finished off a 17-7 decision.
Righetti, the No. 1-ranked team in CIF Division 4, outscored the Royals 10-1 in the second half. San Marcos trailed 7-6 at halftime.
“We struggled in the 2nd half to get anything going offensively,” noted Royals head coach Jeff Ashton. “Poor offensive decisions led to easy scoring opportunities for Righetti.”
George Kuesis and Spencer Wood scored two goals each while Jesse Morrison, Brenden Ring and Adam Fuller scored once. Goalie Jack Palmer collected seven saves.
The Royals host Claremont on Saturday in their next action.
