Matt Shotwell had 15 tackles in Bishop Diego’s win over Righetti
Kaitlyn Saperstein scored game-winning goals in two matches for SBCC.
Matt Shotwell of the Bishop Diego football team and Kaitlyn Saperstein of the SBCC women’s soccer team were honored as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.
Shotwell was force on defense for the Cardinals in their 14-9 season-opening win over a physical Righetti team on Friday night. The senior inside linebacker made 15 tackles and recorded a sack. He also played fullback.
Saperstein, a recent graduate of San Marcos, scored the game-winning goals for SBCC against Golden West and City College of San Francisco. Both goals came in the first half of 2-0 victories.
The honorable mention choices for the awards were Sean Babcock (Santa Barbara High football), Isaac Baron (Laguna Blanca football), Kevin Feucht (UCSB soccer), Nicolas Genthon (SBCC soccer), Kelsey Steck (Westmont women’s soccer), Jessica McCann (Westmont volleyball).
