Seattle eliminates Foresters at NBC World Series

In a rematch of last year’s final, the Santa Barbara Foresters were blanked by the Seattle Studs, 7-0, and eliminated from the National Baseball Congress World Series early Friday morning in Wichita, Kan.

Seattle pitcher David Benson pitched a complete-game five hitter. His teammates gave him run support early, scoring four runs off Foresters starter Garrett King in the first two innings. It was the second straight game the Foresters were shut out.

The Foresters were seeking to repeat as champions and tie the tournament record with six titles. Seattle moves on to the championship game for the second straight year.

The Foresters finish the season with a 37-9 record. The nine losses were the fewest in a single season in team history. They had the best record in the California Collegiate League, going 25-7 in league play.
