The Santa Barbara Triathlon Sprint Course should be renamed Matt Organista’s Race after the Carpinterian won for the fourth straight year on Sunday. Not to be outdone, the overall Santa Barbara Triathlon weekend belonged to Lauren Capone after she followed up her long course victory on Saturday with the short course title on Sunday.

Organista’s time was 35 minutes and 39 seconds. Capone checked in at 38:26. Jon Waltman, a former long course winner from 2011, was second in a time of 37:16. Capone was third overall followed by Matthew Leu and Evan Blix.

Organista was faster than anyone in the swimming and cycling sections while Capone’s run of 11:56 was best in the field. The short course distance consisted of a 5oo-yard swim, a six-mile bike ride, finished off by a flat two-mile run along the Santa Barbara waterfront.

RESULTS: CO-ED || WOMEN ONLY || PARENT-CHILD

Besides the elite competitors, there were many other divisions for athletes to choose from. The parent-child race was a popular one, as was the women’s only sprint.

The sprint course's running leg was two miles along the waterfront's bike path.
