Dos Pueblos junior Siena Wagner has been selected to the Scout Sports Softball All-American team.
Scout Softball is a major national scouting service which helps identify prospects for college coaches.
As a sophomore last season, Wagner played second base and outfield for the Chargers, who won the Channel League and advanced to the CIF Division 4 semifinals.
By being named an All-American, Wagner received an invitation to play in the Scout Softball All-American Games in Albuquerque, N.M. on Aug. 9-10. Wagner will head there right after competing with her club team in the 16U Premier Girls Fastpitch Nationals this weekend in Irvine.
On Wagner’s selection, Mark Mulvany, president of Scout Sports and a former major league baseball scout, said: “Selecting Siena for Scout All-American was one of the easiest choices we’ve ever made. When you look at Division 1-caliber middle infield prospects, Wagner represents the evolution of the position at the D1 level. Not only does she display one of the top gloves in the sport, her ability to hit for average and power have put her in an elite class of prospects. She’ll feel right at home in New Mexico competing along side 47 of the top prospects the game has to offer.”
Mulvany noted that Wagner is Scout’s No. 1 unsigned 2017 second baseman on its national database.
