Santa Barbara Vintners Foundation event offers unique, non-traditional race with one-of-a-kind post-race Finish Line Festival with wine tasting, live music, BBQ lunch by the Hitching Post and more!
BUELLTON — The inaugural Vintners 5 Miler presented by the Santa Barbara Vintners Foundation, set for Saturday, July 25 at 10:00am, will be hosted on the grounds of the Sanford Winery and Vineyards. This unique trail run, suitable for runners and walkers, features mixed terrain over the vineyard including an overlook with a spectacular view of the Sanford estate vineyards on Santa Rosa Road.
“We anticipate a great first-year event with something for everybody from runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to the post-race festivities for all including families and friends as well as kids,” said Sanford winemaker, Vintners Board member and avid runner Steve Fennell. “The Vintners 5 Miler also serves as a fundraiser for the Santa Barbara Vintners Foundation’s community programs.”
Each mile on the course will represent one of the five Santa Barbara County American Viticultural Areas (AVA): Ballard Canyon, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria Valley, Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Ynez Valley.
The post-race Finish Line Festival is a family-friendly event that includes complimentary wine tasting, music by Dave Courtenay & The Castawaves, a kids fun zone and a Santa Ynez-style BBQ lunch by the world famous Hitching Post II.
Participating wineries at the event include: Sanford Winery, Casa Dumetz, Hitching Post Wines, Beckmen Vineyards, FOXEN, Summerland Winery, Crawford Family, Costo de Oro, Grassini Family Vineyards and Dierberg / Star Lane.
Online registration closes on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 8:00pm PDT. On Friday, July 24 from 10:00am to 6:00pm, race packet pick-up and registration will be available at the Santa Barbara Running Co., 110 Anacapa St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. On race day, beginning at 8:00am, adjacent to the Sanford Winery Tasting Room, runners may also register or pick up their bib numbers.
