Hancock-Mainz win all-Dons 18s beach VB final

Santa Barbara High teammates squared off in the boys 18-under final of the California Beach Volleyball Association Youth Tournament on Tuesday at East Beach.

Henry Hancock and Barron Mainz defeated Cooper Johnson and Rowan Peak for the title. All four players play on the Dons’ varsity team.

Santa Barbara players swept all the age divisions. In the 16s, Curren Malhotra and Ben Roach were the winners; Will Rottman and Sam Stegall captured the 14s division and Alex Rottman and Toby Still took the title in the 12s.

On the girls side, San Marcos volleyball teammates Isabel Bassi and Lauren Orlich won the 16s division over Linnea Skinner of Santa Barbara and Patricia Newlander of Nipomo.

Santa Barbara High’s Cassandra Amador and Tatum Vedder were runners-up to Ashlan Cunningham of Grapevine and Kahlee York of Lakewood Ranch in the 18s final.
