Former UCSB player Jared Godinez and Mike Stewart captured the California Beach Volleyball Association Santa Barbara Men’s “AA” Tournament in a thrilling final match on Saturday at East Beach.
Godinez-Stewart rallied from a 27-21 deficit and defeated Jesse Webster and Tanner Smith, 30-28, to earn a “AAA” rating on the beach. Sharing third place were the teams of Owen and Matt Yoshimoto and Benjamin Hunt-Julian Lopez.
In the Women’s Unrated Tournament final, Krista Nightingale and Leah Russell of Goleta defeated the Santa Barbara team of Kelsey Mollick and Jessie Hernandez to earn a “B” rating.
