Buddy Melgoza crushed a three-run homer in the second inning, and the Goleta Valley South Little League 12-Under All-Stars romped to a 13-1 mercy-rule win over Ventura Coastal on Monday in the District 63 Tournament in Santa Paula.
Melgoza’s blast gave Goleta Valley South a 6-0 lead.
Henry Manfredonia added a two-run shot in the third. Nick Oakley had three hits, with two RBI in the victory. Manfredonia, Caden Vom Steeg, Jared Vom Steeg, and Aiden Johnson all had multi-hit games.
Melgoza, Will Trautwein, and Jackson Haskell shared pitching duties, striking out six and yielding only two hits.
After defeating opponents by a combined 27-2 in their first two contests, GVSLL next plays Montalvo on Wednesday at Montalvo Little League.
