Alex “Moose” Moosbrugger struck out nine, scattered three hits and allowed one unearned run through five innings, leading the Dos Pueblos Little League 12-under All-Stars to a 6-1 victory over Santa Paula in the District 63 Tournament on Sunday at Harding Park.
Jack Parrish’s run-scoring single in the third inning and Jackson Greaney’s RBI groundball in the fifth proved to be all the offense DPLL would need. Kellan Montgomery drove in Conner Gleissner in the fifth to make it 3-0 before Ty Montgomery launched a three-run home run in the sixth to give DPLL some breathing room.
Parrish and Cole Philip combined to pitch a scoreless sixth.
Santa Paula starting pitcher Malik Hernandez also pitched well, striking out eight batters through four-and-a-third innings.
Dylan Borgeson, Montgomery and Jared Williams each had two hits for DPLL
Dos Pueblos plays next against Carpinteria Little League on Tuesday, June 16,
at 7 p.m. at Montalvo Little League in Ventura.
