SBCC’s Jessica Escalante grabbed fourth place in the javelin on Friday in the CCCAA State Women’s Track & Field Championships at the College of San Mateo.
The former Dos Pueblos High standout threw a career-best 38.92 meters (127 feet, 8 inches).
That was 2.23 meters farther than she threw last week while winning the Southern Cal Championship. It’s the No. 4 mark in school history.
Olivia Loy will run in the 200 and 400 on Saturday during the final day of the State Championships. The Vaqueros’ 4 x 100 relay team of Anyel Thomas, Loy, Marla Bonser and Escalante will also compete.
