Bishop Diego’s AV Bennett won the 100 and 200 meter sprints at the Frontier League track & field championships on Thursday at Santa Paula, while also qualifying for CIF in the high jump and 4×100 relay.
Bennett, Abel Gonzalez and Jacob Brosnan had especially strong days for the Cardinals. Along with Tommy Murrillo, the group was runner-up in the 4×100 relay.
Gonzalez advanced to CIF in the shot put and Brosnan in the long jump.
Bennett won the 100 with a time of 11.17. His PR of 10.94 is ranked in the top-3 in Division 4.
The CIF D4 Prelims are next Saturday at Carpinteria High School.
