SFT: Cardinals produce second straight 20-run CIF game

Two days after scoring 22 runs in the CIF playoff opener, Bishop Diego’s softball team erupted for 25 more runs in Thursday’s first-round game at Hesperia Christian. The Cardinals advanced past the Scorpions 25-2 in a game shortened to six innings.

Isabella Gregson and Gina Tieso combined to pitch a no-hitter for Bishop Diego, which advances to Tuesday’s second round. Bishop Diego will play Academy of Careers & Exploration next in the Division-7 tournament.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and led 16-0 after two frames.

Lindsay Bosio’s grand slam was a highlight for the Cardinals. Gregson, Kylie Koeper, Cheyanne Dodge and Lily Dallow added hits for Bishop Diego.

Hesperia Christian was the champion of the Agape League.
