The Boys & Girls Club Ballers 12-U basketball team dominated at the EBO Showdown tournament in San Diego over the weekend, going 4-0 overall and bringing home the championship.
The team went down 16-0 early in the game, battled back, went down again by 10 with only a couple minutes left and came back to win the game by 1 point. Final score was 39-38 against the San Diego Sharks. It was a great effort by the team made up of 6th graders and two 5th graders.
“The team showed tons of heart coming back from a 16-0 deficit in the beginning. They believed in one another and played great team basketball,” said coach Rob Allen.
The players on the team were Angel Acosta, Makai Trimble Kjar, Andrew Douglas, Johnny Perez, Justin Perez, Noah Wood, Michael Brown and Ernie Molina.
The EBO Showdown had over 250 teams from San Diego, LA, Arizona, Vegas and other regions.
The 12U squad was one of seven teams from the Santa Barbara program.
