The third-seeded Laguna Blanca boys volleyball team swept Calvary Murrieta during the first round of the CIF Division 5 playoffs at home on Tuesday evening. The Owls defeated the Warriors by a scores of 25-9, 25-6, 25-17.
“Good win tonight for the guys. Everyone got some quality playing time, and played multiple positions,” said Laguna head coach Dillan Bennett. “It was great for each of the guys on our team to play a part in winning this match.”
The Condor League champs were led on offense by Jack Copeland, who had eight kills and three digs. Ryan Bickett added another solid performance with 11 digs, three kills and an ace. Carter Thicke chipped in with five kills, while Pierce O’Donnell tallied 19 digs.
With the victory, the Owls improve to 20-7 overall on the season and advance into the second round on Thursday. They’ll host Providence of Burbank at 6 p.m.
