Channel League-champion Santa Barbara High finished the regular season on a high note, beating a strong Royal team in four sets on Senior Night. The Dons won the non-league match 25-20, 28-30, 25-19, 25-17.
Freshman Dane Westwick set for the Dons in place of an injured Cord Pereira and dished out 43 assists.
“The kid is a competitor,” coach Chad Arneson said of Westwick. “He kept his composure. He definitely helped us win on Senior Night.”
Jasper Rhodes and Hayden Millington led the attack with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Blake Kelley added seven kills from the opposite position and middle JM Cage also had seven kills.”
“It was a good win for us going into the playoffs,” said Arneson
Santa Barbara (18-7), ranked 10th in the latest CIF poll, will learn its draw in the CIF Division 1 playoffs on Friday. The playoffs begin on Tuesday.
