Bishop Diego came up short in a five-set match against Salesian in a CIF Division 3 wild-card playoff game on Saturday in East L.A. The scores were 23-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-9.
“We came out really strong and were in control of the match early,” Bishop coach Jason Donnelly said. “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish and they had one player we just couldn’t stop.”
Freshman John Harris had a big match for the Cardinals, posting 16 kills, 10 digs and two aces. Luca Jordano had nine kills and six digs and Austin Bohnett had eight kills and 10 digs.
Bishop finished the season 10-8.
‘It was a great season for our young team. They were a fun group to coach,”said Donnelly.
The match was the last one for Donnelly as Bishop Diego’s coach. He accepted the athletic director’s job at Laguna Blanca School.
