BTen: Six local teams learn CIF tennis draws

League champions Santa Barbara High and Cate School headline six local schools that have reached the CIF postseason. The teams learned their CIF first-round opponents on Monday.

The Dons and Rams are each hosting matches on Wednesday.

Santa Barbara High is ranked No. 6 in Division 1 after a 14-2 regular season. The Dons open up against Culver City at 3 p.m.

For Cate, it’s the last playoff run for longtime coach Bob Bonning. He’s retiring from teaching this year and has coached the boys tennis team for the past 40 years.

The Rams, who won the Tri-Valley League title, host either Jordan or Fullerton on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Dos Pueblos, which finished second to Santa Barbara in the Channel League, received a first-round home match. The Chargers welcome Loyola to Goleta for a Division-1 clash.

San Marcos is the Channel League’s third team in the D1 bracket. The Royals are on the road at Westlake.

The top four seeds in Division 1 are Los Alamitos (1), Beverly Hills (2), Harvard Westlake (3) and University (4). [FULL DIVISION 1 BRACKET]
