The four singles semifinalists were decided on Monday in the boys Channel League Individual Tennis Tournament, with San Marcos’ Lars Scannell pulling off the biggest upset of the day.
The sixth-seeded Scannell knocked out third-seeded Taggert Mills 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Top-seeded Kento Perera swept his first-round match 6-0, 6-0 and beat Ventura’s Nolan Rucker 6-0, 6-1 in the second round.
Perera, the defending champion, will face DP’s Miles Baldwin in one semifinal while Scannell and Dos Pueblos’ Joshua Wang meet in the other. The singles semifinals are on Wednesday at San Marcos.
The doubles tournament begins on Tuesday. Both finals are on Thursday at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
