BTen: Chargers’ season comes to a halt in CIF opener

The Dos Pueblos boys tennis team went up against the vigorous play of Loyola and fell 16-2 in a season-ending CIF playoff opener on Wednesday.

Loyola moves on to Friday’s second round to face top-seeded Los Alamitos.

Joshua Wang teamed up with Vincent Villano to secure a set in the doubles department while the tandem of Miles Baldwin and Quinn Hensley did the same. These were the only two points won by the Chargers on the day as they failed to prevail in five tight sets.

“I’m very proud of this team who remained positive throughout the three rounds and did their best today,” said coach Liz French. “The sportsmanship between the two teams was evident. We have had a terrific run in a rebuilding year.”

Dos Pueblos, the second-place team from the Channel League, concludes the season with a 14-6 record.
