The Bishop Diego boys tennis team was defeated by Marshall 12-6 during a CIF Division 5 wild-card matchup at the Muni Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m so pound of my team this season,” said Cardinals head coach Debbie Ekola. “I’m very lucky to have such an athletic and talented group of young men.”
Bishop was led once again by Spencer Ekola, who went 3-0 without dropping a game against his opponents. The Cardinals No. 1 singles player, the recently crowned Frontier League individual champion, wrapped up another perfect season at 39-0.
In doubles play, the tandem of Jake Stratford-Jones and Cameron Roberts went 2-1 on the day. The duo of Cristian Vasques paired with Jonathan Lindsey picked up the other set win for Bishop.
With the loss, the Cardinals wrap up the season with a record of 7-8 overall.
